Moving to a new home is often overwhelming for children. Meeting new people in a new environment - coupled with the sadness of leaving family and friends behind can be very distressing. Children often "check out" - basically shutting down. Others act out - behaving aggressively. Each child-sized Photo Book is an album which caregivers and children quickly assemble together before moving. Caregivers will find specific questions to encourage discussion with your child and suggested activities to help ease your child’s transition. Foster parents are able to use this activity (assembling the photo book together with their new foster child) as a bonding experience -- which is so important for the success of each placement. The photo book is as much a quick-reference guide for caregivers as it is a fun photo album and keepsake for children.
